Life Trak

The Teller County Sheriff's Office has brought Colorado Life Trak - at no cost to participants - to assist its residents who have medical conditions that may cause them to wander. The project is a rapid-response partnership with law enforcement aiding victims and families suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders and conditions such as Down Syndrome and Autism.

Colorado Life Trak Participants

  • A "tried and true" radio technology that provides tracking through a wristband worn by the participant
  • Rescue teams from the Teller County Sheriff's Office. Reduced search times from hours and days to minutes
  • A proven lifesaving system that is reliable, responsive, practical and affordable

How Colorado Life Trak works

  • A family member or a caregiver of an Alzheimer's patient (or other related disorder) calls the Teller County Sheriff's Office project manager to sign up for Colorado Life Trak
  • Participants wear a personalized wristband which emits a tracking signal 24 hours a day, seven days a week, over several miles
  • Caregivers notify the Teller County Sheriff's Office when a participant is missing. A search and rescue team responds to the call and uses a mobile locator tracking system to find the Colorado Life Trak participant.

The Partnership with Law Enforcement

Colorado Life Trak saves lives and further serves the community by significantly reducing the need for extensive search and rescue operations that are extremely costly in terms of human and financial resources. Searches for wandering individuals that have taken days and scores of searchers can be successfully concluded in less than an hour if Colorado Life Trak is available in the community. This partnership and the program's effectiveness and reliability has earned Colorado Life Trak the endorsement of the National Sheriff's Association.
