Why does the program center on the five participating agencies?
The five participating agencies have been working together to streamline and maximize the processes of food bank operations and have maintained a continual relationship with Teller County.
Is this part of the federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)?
No, this is an initiative instituted by Teller County officials in concert with the food banks of the five participating agencies to provide relief to families affected by the temporary lack of funding for SNAP.
Is this a permanent program?
No. This program is in place to enhance the collection and distribution capabilities of Teller County food banks during the freeze of SNAP funds. Once SNAP is reinstated, this program will be closed.
I am elderly and do not have the ability to transport myself to a food bank. Can I receive assistance?
Teller Senior Coalition (TSC Transit) provides door-through-door transportation services for Teller County, Eastern Park County and Western El Paso County. Our transportation services are open to the general public, 18 years of age and older. We will pick you up at your home for appointments and other essential needs such as grocery shopping, bank, post office, library, pharmacy, work, social activities and more. TSC Transit does scheduling in advance, it is not an emergency transportation service. Please call with 48 hours advanced notice to schedule a ride. Transportation services operate Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Transportation scheduling is available Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. To schedule transportation call 719-687-0256.
I’m uncomfortable asking for my own ride through TSC Transit. Do I have any other options for transportation?
TSC Transit provides a FREE Public Shuttle on Wednesdays to the general public. Our public shuttle provides transportation in Woodland Park, down to Green Mountain Falls and connects with the Cripple Creek Transit for Cripple Creek and Victor riders to shop in Woodland Park.
